Welcome to our Fall edition. This issue always holds a special place in my heart. It’s a
profound privilege to sit with our local Veterans, to listen to their stories, and to be from
entrusted with preserving their experiences for future generations. Their accounts are
not just history; they are deeply personal legacies of courage and sacrifice. This year, as the
we mark 50 years since the end of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, we have the
distinct honor of focusing on the men and women of that era. Hearing their stories has
been a particularly moving experience, a powerful reminder that we must continue to publisher
listen to and recognize this generation of heroes.
The stories you are about to read are more than just articles; they are treasures
generously shared with our community. In a world that often feels
divided, these accounts of service remind us of the common values that
can unite us: commitment, resilience, and looking out for one another. It
is our hope that by sharing their legacies, we can inspire a spirit of
understanding and appreciation that ripples through our community for
years to come.
Sharing this many important stories is a significant undertaking, and it is
one we could not do alone. We are incredibly grateful for our advertising
partners, who believe in this mission as much as we do. They are more
than advertisers; they are community members who have stepped
forward to help us honor these heroes. When you see their ads, please
know that they have directly contributed to making this tribute possible.
A truly special moment for us each year is our cover photo event, where
we bring these remarkable veterans and their families together. This
year, it was deeply moving to have so many of our community leaders
stand with us to pay tribute. The presence of Texas Tech Chancellor
Tedd Mitchell, Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec, State Senator
Charles Perry, and State Representative Carl Tepper sent a powerful
message of unified respect and gratitude. We were also so appreciative
that Congressman Jodey Arrington’s staff could join us to present each
featured Veteran with a flag—a beautiful and fitting symbol of our nation’s gratitude.
The warmth and sense of community at our event were made possible by the incredible generosity of several local
organizations. ABC Bank, Texas Tech Military Veteran Network, United Market Street, Beyond Faith Hospice, Interim
Hospice, Hospice of Lubbock, The Bridge Hospice, Cornerstone Caregiving, and Combest Funeral Home all partnered with
us to create a truly memorable day. These partners consistently demonstrate a deep, personal commitment to caring for
our Veterans, and their support ensured our event was a true celebration of life and service. For that, we are profoundly
thankful.
As you turn these pages, you may be reminded of a Veteran in your own life whose story deserves to be told. We would
be privileged to hear about them for next year’s edition as we celebrate the 250th Birthday of America. Please don’t
hesitate to reach out; it is our highest purpose to be a platform where their honor and legacy can shine. Thank you for
joining us in celebrating these incredible men and women. We hope you enjoy this keepsake issue and the beauty of the
fall season.
