Leroy was sent back to England for a time before

co-workers knew where it was and showed her this “little
bitty dot.” She was emphatic. “I’m not going there!” But
she did, and so did Leroy. The day they arrived, they put
in for a transfer.
They say, “God prevailed,” and they stayed. They raised
their children here (Demeca Hobbs now in Austin and
Senior Master Sergeant Christopher Hobbs stationed
at Hurlburt Field, FL) –– and they stayed. They each
completed their military enlistments –– and they stayed.
After all these years, they stayed in Lubbock.
Leroy’s military career ended with 22 ½ years of service,
and he retired as a Master Sergeant. He continued
