Stories Hidden in Keepsakes

Veterans often leave behind more than memories. Old photographs, medals, uniforms, letters, and military
papers can tell stories that might otherwise be forgotten. Many families inherit these items without knowing
what they mean—or why they matter.

Before those stories are lost, take a little time to learn what those keepsakes can tell you.

Want to preserve a veteran’s legacy? Try this:

Gather military photos, medals, papers, and memorabilia.
Label items with names, dates, and locations while they can still
be identifed. Preserve the story,
Ask family members where the items came from and what they not just the object.
