Internationally renowned dance and visual illusion company, MOMIX,
joined PLPS on April 21, 2017.

“Stubb” Stubblefield. Lubbock Lights has become one
of the most distinctive recurring elements of the series,
celebrating the rich musical heritage of the South
Plains and serving as a "homecoming" of sorts for the
remarkable Lubbock-born artists who have gone on to
national recognition. Beginning in 2015 as a collaboration
with the Southwest Music Archive and guided by the
artistic vision of Wilkinson, the inaugural event featured
Wade Bowen, Butch Hancock, Terri Hendrix, and Lloyd
Maines. In the years since, the festival has evolved into
an annual celebration of West Texas music history,
featuring performances by Lubbock legends including
Joe Ely, Sonny Curtis, Terry Allen, Flatland Cavalry, the
Maines Brothers, and in 2022, a tribute to the life and
legacy of Mac Davis.
The 13th annual Lubbock Lights Festival will continue
this tradition on Feb. 25, 2027, with “The Lubbock
Songbook,” an all-star concert celebrating local musical
legends who have shaped the Lubbock music community
for decades, featuring John Sprott, Scott and Amy Faris,
D.G. Flewellyn, Hannah Jackson, Cary C. Banks, Dustin
Garrett, Junior Vasquez, and Jenni Dale Lord.

As PLPS begins its 20th season, it celebrates both
a remarkable history and an exciting future. The
anniversary season will feature four distinctive events,
beginning with technology writer Vauhini Vara’s
exploration of the increasing role of artificial intelligence
in our society, followed by two evenings celebrating
the work of Terry and Jo Harvey Allen, the 13th annual 2026/2027 Season
Lubbock Lights Festival, and a season finale featuring
Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Brad Mehldau with The Presidential Lecture & Performance Series
provides engaging entertainment and learning
bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Marcus Gilmore. Purchase
